i have an mp3 player and a card reader for a digital camera. first of all the card reader comes with no software. i used it over the holidays on someone elses computer and it worked fine. just plug it in it was recognized as a mass storage device and had no problems. the mp3 player i couldnt use till i git home from vacation.basically on my computer it will not recognize either one. it says detected new device searches for software and nothing happens for either one. the mp3 player did have software with it but its just for video transferring. if i hook either one up to another computer there is no trouble. i have looked on the net a little but have not found any fixes that work. its frustrating and i have no idea how to fix it or what is wrong. if anyone has any ideas or solutions im all ears.

my wife got an mp3 player as well.....i read in the literature that you must use WMP 10 .....9 can cause problems. if you have not updated windows media player in awhile, try that first.....mine is current so i didnt even have to use the software included with the mp3 player. also , sometimes you may have a glitched usb port. i have 4 in the back and 2 in the front.....sometimes one of mine in the front wont work..switch things and it works fine...this is just my experience with it . hope it helps.

damn..lol ill keep looking too... i know it is a simple fix relatively speaking. maybe bad connection> not a tight fit? i did have issues when i first hooked up the usb cable with no detection...but forced it in and wiggled and i heard the magical sound...dung dung dling...new hardware detected. after that no problems. I was going to suggest trying a different USB port on your computer but it appears you've already tried that. Besides the 2 on the front you probably have another 5 on the back.
My boss had the same problem with his Treo. His computer wouldn't recognize it but the one in my office sees it fine.
I'm sure you've googled this with make, model and operating system along with symptoms. Try changing up you key words and use "+" for each search item.
IE: camera type + model + Windows XP + hardware not recognized
Good Luck!
